FAQ

Will PilotX ever push directly to my main branch?

No. AutoCoder only ever proposes changes as a branch and pull request — this holds regardless of gate mode. It never commits directly to a protected branch, and it never merges anything itself; every proposal goes through your repository's normal pull-request review.

What happens if a stage fails partway through a run?

The run stops at that stage and is marked failed. Whatever earlier stages completed (Scout's findings, Analyst's plan, TestWriter's test cases, etc.) stays visible on the run's detail page — a failure doesn't erase prior stage output.

Who can approve or reject a human-gated run?

Only workspace Admins. See Human gate & approvals.

Who can change gate mode, agent instructions, or add custom agents?

All three are Admin-only, under Settings → Gate mode, Settings → Agent instructions, and Settings → Custom agents respectively.

Can I connect more than one repository provider?

Yes — GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket can all be connected at the same time, and you choose which repositories from each to watch. See GitHub, GitLab & Bitbucket.

Does PilotX support self-hosted GitLab or Bitbucket Server?

Yes, both GitLab and Bitbucket support an optional self-hosted instance URL alongside the access token.

What are the plan/usage limits?

They vary by plan and are configured server-side, so this page won't quote a number that might already be stale — check Settings → Plan & usage for your workspace's current plan and run-usage this period. If you hit the limit, that screen also links to upgrading.

Where do I see what happened during a run?

The run's detail page shows every stage's status as it completes, plus Reporter's final summary once the run finishes. If Slack notifications are configured, that same summary is also posted to your chosen channel.

Something here looks wrong or out of date

This documentation is written against PilotX's current behavior at the time each page was last edited, but the product keeps changing. If something here doesn't match what you see in the app, trust the app — and flag it to your workspace admin or PilotX support so the docs can be corrected.
